Retaining Walls and Reinforced Soil Wall

Retaining walls are used for supporting soil/ rocks laterally so that it can be retained at different levels on the two sides.

Retaining walls are structures designed to restrain soil to a slope that it would not naturally keep to (typically a steep, near-vertical or vertical slope). They are used to bound soils between two different elevations often in areas of terrain possessing undesirable slopes or in areas where the landscape needs to be shaped severely and engineered for more specific purposes like hillside project or roadway overpasses.

There are different types of Retaining walls system that we offer design and execution of RC wall, RSW wall, and Slope stabilization projects.

Retaining Walls and Reinforced Soil Structures

Reinforced Concrete Wall Img

Reinforced Concrete Walls on spread foundations are gravity structures in which the stability against overturning is provided by the weight of the wall and reinforcement bars in the wall. A layer of Nonwoven can be used for better drainage.

Products Used

Gabion Gravity Wall

Gabion gravity walls are executed mainly in the purpose of soil stabilization behind the wall, but it can also be executed as a cover wall. The wall is made from gabion boxes that are stacked in one or more rows, depending on the height of the wall.

On the back face, nonwoven geotextile is placed in order to separate fine particles from the stone material of the gabion wall. With this the water permeability and filtration mechanism that limits washout is secured.

Reinforced Gabion Wall (GTI GX wall)

GTI GX Earth Wall with 100% mechanical connection between gabion facia and reinforcing geogrid is an exclusive invention of GTI. It is the best alternative for Gabion Gravity wall where availability of boulders is scarce. The construction has Mechanically Woven Hexagonal double twisted gabion as facia. The section is stabilized layer by layer and uses Geogrid as reinforcement and has specially developed reinforcement system.

The world over, Gabion Facia MSE walls are the preferred method of constructing high retaining walls in the hilly areas and mountainous terrain as well as near waterbodies.

Products Used

GTI® PX Earth Wall

GTI PX Earth wall is Reinforced Soil Wall which has RCC Precast panel as Fascia element along with geogrid as reinforcement element which specially developed and optimized reinforcement coverage area and connection system which enhances the mechanical stability of the RSW.

On the back face of the wall, Nonwoven Geotextile/ Drainage Composite can be placed for better drainage, filter instead of filter media.

Products used

An Anchored Gabion Wall System is a Soil/ rock retaining or supporting structure composed of gabions as the final facing and the anchors ensuring structural stability, load-bearing capacity, and safety.

Both the anchors and the initial and final facing contribute to the stability of the excavation. The anchors support the soil and transfer loads to the soil mass behind the wall. The facing supports the soil between nails and immediately behind the face, provides structural continuity, and enables the Anchored Gabion Wall to act as a unit.

A layer of nonwoven can be used for better drainage.
